Terms of use
Last updated: 23 June 2026
By using 1080Alert you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
What this service does
1080Alert monitors publicly available Department of Conservation (DOC) data about 1080 pest control operations in New Zealand and sends email notifications to subscribers when operations are announced, commence, or complete near their chosen location.
Data accuracy
Operation data is sourced from DOC via ArcGIS Online and may be delayed, incomplete, or inaccurate. Dates, boundaries, and status information published by DOC may change without notice. 1080Alert is not a substitute for official notifications from DOC, regional councils, or other authorities.
No guarantee of alerts
Alerts may not always be timely or complete. In particular, we cannot guarantee that:
- All operations will appear in the data source we monitor
- Alerts will be sent before an operation commences
- Emails will be delivered successfully (spam filters, bounces, and other delivery issues are outside our control)
Limitation of liability
1080Alert is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. Virgola accepts no liability for:
- Missed, late, or inaccurate alerts
- Harm to people, animals, or property arising from reliance on (or failure to receive) alerts
- Service outages or interruptions
If you are concerned about a specific 1080 operation, contact the Department of Conservation or your regional council directly.
Dog owners
1080 is highly toxic to dogs. While we include caution period information where available, you should always check official DOC signage and warnings before entering bush areas with dogs. Do not rely solely on this service for your dog's safety.
Unsubscribe
You may unsubscribe at any time using the link in any alert email, or by visiting the unsubscribe page directly.
Service discontinuation
If 1080Alert is discontinued, we will notify subscribers by email and delete all personal data within 30 days of the service ceasing operation.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify subscribers by email before the changes take effect. Continued use of the service after notification constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand. Any disputes arising from the use of this service are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New Zealand.
